De cast is om te watertanden, met cult-iconen als Adrienne Barbeau en Harvey Keitel naast oudgedienden Kim Hunter (Planet of the Apes) en Martin Balsam (Psycho). De gruwelijke make-up effecten zijn van niemand minder dan Tom Savini, die eerder garant stond voor het uitzinnige bloedvergieten in Romero s zombiefilms Dawn of the Dead en Day of the Dead.
