Vollenweider augments his electric harp with the sound of various stringed instruments from around the world including the koto, the Chinese harp, the ocarina, and the 12-string guitar. Additionally, Vollenweider is joined by several distinguished guests, including jazz trombonist Ray Anderson, Galician bagpipe player Carlos Nunez, and jazz-pop vocal chameleon Bobby McFerrin. The contributions of these musicians make the COSMOPOLY sparkle. Carly Simon even makes an appearance (reciting a passage from James Joyce, no less) on ''Your Silver Key'', putting the cherry on this ambitious, ever-intriguing, multicultural musical cake. |
