Nu slechts € 9,99 Though Mary Timony's solo debut, MOUNTAINS, was excellent, she gained an even firmer footing with her 2002 sophomore release. THE GOLDEN DOVE is not that different musically from her debut (though still quite a change from Timony's previous band, Helium), but is finely honed, blending her fondness for indie rock, Renaissance folk, punk, and mystical poetry into a continuously surprising ride. Song titles like ''Musik and Charming Melodee'' and ''Dryad and the Mule'' give a sense of the anachronistic sensibility governing the set, but Timony's musicality, which is sharp and shape-shifting, has its own allure, especially when her idiosyncrasies are balanced by passages of pure pop charm.
