Nu slechts € 17,50 Thirteen years after his highly lauded debut and four after his previous offering, Hayden released In Field & Town, a record that confidently reestablished the Canadian in the indie singer-songwriter vanguard. Hayden has always borrowed from Neil Young, and this record (his sixth) follows in the mellow, rustic tradition of Young?s Harvest and Harvest Moon, while it sonically expands those records' palettes. Oddly placed synth lines, effects-laden guitars, and a surprisingly funky rhythm section undercut the Youngisms and emphasize Hayden's original stature as a post-Beck, folkie modernist. In Field & Town is ultimately about Hayden?s two most enduring strengths: his melodic gift and a newly confident voice. ~ Pat Sullivan
