But before he became the Dogg, Williams was a producer for a variety of labels in the `60s, and BLAME IT ON THE DOGG cherry-picks some of the finest examples of his work in that capacity, including tunes by icons like Gene Pitney, Gary U.S. Bonds, and Z.Z. Hill as well as more obscure artists (Tommy Hunt, Eleanor Grant, Little Charles & the Sidewinders). Put these alongside some early (mostly pre-Dogg) cuts by Williams himself, and you've got a captivating portrait of the Dogg's early career on both sides of the microphone.
