Nu slechts € 19,50 In addition to being a valuable reissue label, Soul Jazz has also had a keen eye for snapping up active artists, whether it's Afro-house overlord Osunlade, abstract techno producer Kit Clayton, or Richard H. Kirk's dubby Sandoz project. The label has now added Bell, a U.K.-based producer who exists in some electro-funk/left-field house netherworld; he clearly does not care about where he fits into the scheme of things, which is a healthy mentality that few producers care to share these days. Seven Types of Six is the follow-up to his 2000 debut, and it carries the same wide scope as that release. What he does care about is moving bodies, not scrambling brains. The crazy electro-indebted sounds and effects (we're talking the line that runs from Afrika Bambaataa to the Egyptian Lover to Drexciya, not the one that involves Fischerspooner) will be enough to keep the attention of any IDM head, but there's a definite emphasis on the dancefloor.
