''Long Awaited'' is the strongest cut on an album that also features the verbal chin-checking of underground heroes Dilated Peoples. Though there are numerous cuts on which the members of Lootpack tackle the mic without any outside help, it's often the guest tracks that prove best. Among the highlights is ''Likwit Fusion'', a cut that features guest stars the Alkoholiks. A feel-good album dedicated to the basics of hip-hop music (strong beats and clever lyrics), SOUNDPIECES: DA ANTIDOTE is a perfect example of ''backpack rap'' at its best. Here, good music wins out over the cliched topics and convoluted messages so popular in late-'90s hip-hop.
