Compiling long out of print singles from Sugar Minott's Black Roots label and production company, Hidden Treasures contains rare material from reggae's golden era as well as a sprinkling of more recent tunes. The set brings to the table treats from obscure artists like Ranking Troyan and the African Brothers (the group Minnot started with), balanced with the work of legends such as Horace Andy. The tracks date from 1979 to more recent cuts originally released in 1994. With fierce rhythms fueled by the likes of Roots Radics, Sly and Robbie, Dean Fraser, and others, it's hard to imagine any of this material being sub-par. Stand out cuts include Ranking Troyan's ''Gretel'', the previously unreleased ''Send I and I Home'' by Junior Delgado, and the lush ''Humble Yourself'' by Cassyman.
