Nu slechts € 15,99 With a gently gravelly voice and songs of comfort in hopelessness (and vice versa) reminiscent of Joe Pernice, Dave Debiak leads Sleep Station through 14 more deeply etched songs on its fifth release, 2008's THE PRIDE OF CHESTER JAMES. While there's a lullaby's warmth to the record (and the album ends with a carousel's flourish straight out of dreamland), that's not to say it's not a vibrant affair. Debiak's mind works in strange ways, and this record, following as it did a slate of wondrous concept albums, is his most obtuse yet; however, with its lush backdrops and beckoning melodies, unraveling his mysteries is inviting in itself.
