Nu slechts € 9,99 By 2010, very few rock musicians had decided to keep their fans in the dark about what the heck they truly looked like -- Kiss unmasked on MTV many a moon ago, Slipknot disclosed their identities years ago, etc. But there's one gentleman who has never ''sold out,'' and that's HeWhoCannotBeNamed, the longtime guitarist for scum-punks Dwarves, who has continued to perform and appear in public hiding behind a ''lucha libre-esque'' mask (but on-stage, he is often spotted wearing little else!). Having appeared on countless Dwarves releases over the years, it was not until the aforementioned year that HeWhoCannotBeNamed bit the bullet and issued a solo recording, Sunday School Massacre. And guess what? It sounds just like a Dwarves record. Disturbing/demented lyrics and music that is mostly rooted in melodic punk serve as the go-to style throughout Sunday School Massacre (''Happy Suicide,'' ''Machine Boy,'' ''Superhero''), with a detour thrown in here and there (the ?50s slow dance vibe of ''Toxine''). And another reason why it sounds so Dwarvesy is an obvious one -- quite a few members of the group (past and present) lend a hand, including bassists Salt Peter and Rex Everything (aka Nick Oliveri), plus singer Blag Dahlia, among others. And while the music is expectedly raw and sonically in your face, it is more in line with more ''produced'' rock bands -- obviously due to the fact that the album was engineered and co-produced by Bradley Cook, who has previously worked with the likes of the Foo Fighters and Counting Crows (not exactly tops on most punk rockers' playlists). But the bottom line is that, for better or for worse, HeWhoCannotBeNamed has captured the essence of his full-time band on his solo debut. ~ Greg Prato
