Not everyone involved in a given song was technically European -- Joceyln Brown provided the lead on Change?s ?Angel in My Pocket,? and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis produced the same group?s ?Change of Heart,? for instance -- but even disco neophytes can pick up on the sleek, cool surfaces, precise musicianship, and synthesized oddball sounds that dominate the set. As with its sister releases, Euro Disco contains a couple well-known and oft-compiled songs, like Laura Branigan's Top Ten cover of Raf?s ?Self Control? and Giorgio Moroder's ?From Here to Eternity,? while there are several absolute must-haves for anyone with a desire to explore ?70s and ?80s dance music beneath the crossover smashes.
