His sound updated to a contemporary pop/rock and his singing stronger than ever, Vee acquits himself well on a body of songs that, between both albums, is startlingly weighted toward blue-eyed soul. There's not a bad cut here, whether he's covering an early-'60s ballad like ''Sealed with a Kiss'' or one of his own originals, or giving his own take on songs associated with the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, and so on. The excellent sound is supported by very thorough annotation, and it's all a great presentation of two hard-to-find albums that should be much better known today than they are. ~ Bruce Eder
