Macc Lads and Filthy Fat and Flatulent EPs, plus both sides of the Jungle Cassingle cassette are all present, spread over the two CDs. And, across the board, the relentless stream of high-octane punk, parent-wilting language, and obsessive paeans to the glories of alcohol, cunnilingus, and meat pies is as hilarious as it is contagious. Back in the 1960s and early '70s, various budget-priced British record labels released a stream of what they called ''rugby songs'' -- a gaggle of putative sportsmen sing-shouting out a stream of mildly offensive ditties about sex, sex, and more sex. The passing of time has rendered such releases little more than a quaint souvenir of a more innocent (but, at the same time, incorrect) time; the Macc Lads, however, bring it all screaming back into focus, only without the self-censorship that prevented the rugby songs from descending into sheer obscenity. And for that alone, we must love this band dearly. ~ Dave Thompson
