Unfortunately, few remained on board for more than a handful of releases -- undoubtedly one of the main reasons why Schenker's solo albums never matched the commercial/artistic success of his UFO days. Perhaps finally sensing that he'll never settle on a single vocalist, Schenker's 2006 solo outing, Tales of Rock N Roll features several singers who the guitarist has shared the studio and stage with in the past -- Graham Bonnet, Robin McAuley, Gary Barden, Leif Sundin, and Chris Logan. Included is the Logan-sung Bad Company-esque ''Dreams Inside,'' the Bonnet-sung metallic boogie rocker ''Rock n' Roll,'' the McAuley-sung mainstream rocker ''Tell a Story,'' as well as the album closing instrumental, ''Life Goes On,'' which allows Schenker to stretch out on his Dean Flying V. He may have sputtered for a lengthy period during his solo career, but as evidenced by such early 21st century releases as Tales of Rock N Roll, Michael Schenker certainly appears to be back on track. ~ Greg Prato
